Role: Technical Surveyor and System Designer (Air Source Heat Pumps)
Location: North & West London and parts of Hampshire, Berkshire, Bedfordshire, and Hertfordshire (roughly within one hour’s drive of Wembley)
Salary: Competitive, with London adjustment for candidates inside the M25.
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start date: 1st August or as soon as possible
About Us
We’re on a mission to make it easier for homeowners to switch from gas boilers to air source heat pumps.
Decarbonising heating is one of the most important challenges of our time. To speed up the transition, we’re focused on improving every part of the installation process, using better technology and tools, so we can deliver high-quality heat pump installations more efficiently and cost-effectively.
We’re building our systems, culture, and reputation from the ground up. If you’re excited about helping shape how we work and setting a new standard for the UK heat pump industry, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and friendly Technical Surveyor & System Designer to undertake technical surveys, heat loss calculations, and design high-quality heat pump systems for customers’ homes. You’ll also be the Nominated Technical Person for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).
You’ll be the first point of contact for potential customers, guiding them through the process and arranging on-site surveys. Based on these surveys, you’ll design the full heating system and provide the customer with a final cost, then hand over designs to the installation team.
Post-install, you’ll ensure customers are happy with their heating system and resolve any problems that arise. Around 80% of your time will be on-site conducting surveys and system design; the remaining 20% will be spent working with the founder to improve systems, service, and quality control.
What You’ll Be Doing
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Deal with enquiries from potential customers, giving honest and accurate advice
- Carry out in-home technical surveys and heat loss calculations using advanced tools (e.g., lidar-based room scanning)
- Design high-quality ASHP systems for homes and small businesses, following MCS standards
- Work closely with the installation team to ensure understanding of the design and installation plan; use feedback to improve surveys and designs
- Act as the main point of contact for the customer, building trust, clearly explaining the process, and ensuring a great experience throughout
In addition, you’ll spend around 20% of your time:
- Helping develop standard operating procedures, install checklists, and safety documentation to ensure full MCS and HIES compliance (acting as the Nominated Technical Person for MCS)
- Helping recruit, train, and mentor new survey and design team members
- Proactively improving tools, training, workflows, and the customer experience
Where You’ll Be Working
Most work will take place on-site across North & West London and surrounding Home Counties, typically within 1 hour’s drive of Wembley.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 2 years’ hands-on experience in home surveys, heat loss calculations, and system design for air source heat pumps in residential or commercial properties
- Strong knowledge of current and upcoming MCS standards and best installation practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust, manage expectations, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical homeowners
- Friendly, approachable manner with a genuine desire to help people
- Passion for low-carbon heating and raising industry standards
- Growth mindset, comfortable in a startup environment with evolving systems
- Right to work in the UK, with own vehicle (mileage allowance provided)
- Valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
What We Offer
- A chance to help shape a business from the ground up, with input into how everything is built
- An agile culture where every project and installation is reviewed to improve how we work
- A supportive team that values quality, integrity, and sustainable workloads
- Opportunities to grow into a senior leadership role as the company scales
- Tools, PPE, and all the support you need to do your best work
- Workplace pension scheme
