Role: Heating Engineer & Lead Installer – Air Source Heat Pumps

Location: North & West London and parts of Hampshire, Berkshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire (roughly within one hour’s drive of Wembley)

Salary: Competitive, with a London adjustment for candidates inside the M25.

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Start date: 1st August or as soon as possible

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced and friendly Lead Installer to take ownership of the heat pump installation process — from arriving at the customer’s door, managing the installation team, and handing over to the customer.

What You’ll Be Doing

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

• Lead on-site installations, managing team members and subcontractors (plumbers, electricians, gas engineers), maintaining technical standards, and ensuring smooth delivery
• Install the heat pump, cylinder, and all necessary components and pipework
• Commission and test installed systems, resolving issues promptly
• Act as the face of the company on-site, building trust with customers and ensuring a great experience throughout
• Complete customer handovers, ensuring confidence and comfort using their new system
• Service previous installations, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
• Track all work using your company tablet with modern software and tools
• Lead all on-site health and safety, ensuring compliance with MCS, HIES, and internal quality standards

In addition, you’ll spend around 20% of your time:

• Improving standard operating procedures, installation checklists, and compliance and safety documentation to ensure full MCS and HIES compliance
• Helping recruit, train, and mentor new installation team members as we grow
• Proactively improving tools, training, workflows, and the customer experience

Where You’ll Be Working

Most work will take place on-site across North & West London and surrounding Home Counties, typically within one hour’s drive of Wembley.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 2 years’ hands-on experience installing air source heat pumps in residential properties
• Qualified plumber or gas engineer (Gas Safe registration beneficial but not essential)
• Experience leading small teams or managing subcontractors on site
• Strong knowledge of MCS standards and good installation practice
• Confident, clear communicator, especially with customers
• Friendly, approachable manner and a genuine desire to help people
• Passion for low-carbon heating and raising standards in the industry
• Comfortable working in a startup environment with evolving systems
• Electrical awareness or experience commissioning heat pump controls
• Willingness to participate in an emergency out-of-hours rota
• Right to work in the UK
• Valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
